Reaction paper

For this assignment, read the following article and answer the questions below. You do not need to repeat the questions in your assignment.

Storbeck, J., & Clore, G. L. (2005). With sadness comes accuracy; with happiness, false memory. Mood and the false memory effect. Psychological Science, 16(10), 785–791.

(You may need to log in to the NCC Library site to access this. You can also find it in Content in D2L.)

1. Summarize the main points of the article in your own words. What were the authors’ hypotheses? What did the researchers do? What did they conclude? Make sure to address both experiments.

2. There a one-way ANOVA in this article. Answer the following questions: What null hypothesis does the ANOVA test? What value was the F statistic for the ANOVA? What was the alpha level for the F statistic? Interpret the results of the one-way ANOVA; what does the ANOVA tell us about the experiment, in your own words?

3. Instead of running an ANOVA test, what other test could the researchers have run to test their main hypothesis? How many would they have needed to run? Why did the researchers conduct an ANOVA instead; what value does an ANOVA bring beyond other tests and why is this important?

4 The authors mention but do not name the post-hoc tests done. What were the results of those unnamed tests? If you were the researchers, would you have done a Tukey or a Scheffe test? Why? What are the pros and cons of each, in your own words?
5. What is the eta value for Experiment 1? What is eta squared? Explain what this statistic tells you about the findings in your own words.
Label your responses by number. Number 1 should take about half a page to a page of writing. Each other number should be at least a paragraph.
